Spending Excess Time on Smartphones Can Give You Neck Pain

It is a warning to those people who spend so much time on their smartphones for chatting and other stuffs. Excessive use of smartphones can give you a neck pain.

According to the researchers, around 3.4 billion smartphone users are at the risk of getting neck pain. This research was done by Ken University and South Australia University. this research was done on 30 volunteers of age between 18 to 25. all the volunteers used to spend more than 8 hours a day on their smartphones in the results were shocking.

This research said that smartphone users bend their neck downwards while using their smartphones. and many times the bent their neck to one side and also bent their back in unusual positions. by sitting in these postures, the tissues surrounding spinal cord gets pressurized and damages due to long pressure. That damage in tissues results in back and neck pain. If not taken seriously, this neck pain becomes very severe and the person finds himself unable to move his neck and in many cases the back bents permanently and that can only be treated with proper treatment. So it is true that Prevention Is Better Than Cure.

So here are some tips to reduce neck pain.

  1. Exercise Daily for at least 15 minutes. Try to stretch your back by proper exercise.
  2. You can also do yoga and various asanas related to back pain and neck pain.
  3. Spend less time on smartphone and more time with family members.
  4. Sit, Stand and Walk in right posture
  5. Reduce the brightness of the screen of smartphones because high brightness can cause weakness in eyes.
  6. Involve yourself in physical activities and different sports to stay fit and active.
  7. Sleep in right posture, keep your back straight while sleeping.
